Bro. Nino Gaton
Social communication has an impact
today on our Catholic faith as well as on the propagation of the mission of
Christ for evangelization as we communicate and collaborate, even though we
cannot meet personally. It also inspires our gratitude for the gift of social
media in easily spreading the message of Christ, especially to spread this
message to the faithful who are also on social media.
It took the attention of this
priest who posted on his Facebook about the view speculation in gadgets as well
as in social media that it impacts the propagation of the mission of social
communications, where I also see his post related to this discussion on gadgets
and social media as the part of the social communications, the priest that I am
wanted to pay attention of this was the respective of a currently assigned parish
priest in the Sagrada Familia Parish
located in Brgy. San Jose, Koronadal City other than Rev. Fr. Ariel Destora.
When I saw his post on his account,
I was also curious about it and I was very concerned. I even asked him a
question in the comments. The post contained an image illustrating many Android
phones and a boy at the top of a book, trying to help up a man who had fallen
and drowned. I commented to ask Fr. Destora about his post and also asked him a
question. The other photo illustrates a book that resuscitates a man who is exposed
to social media, and these are examples of this post posted on social media common
who are posted the same photo.
I am also speculating on the argument
and the stand of Fr. Destora who likely said that he might be strongly against
the propagation of social media even in the propagation of the mission of
Christ as well as in the Church. Just a realization of the gospel on the story
of a Jew that those who had a leper and whoever was infected with the disease should
not enter into the temple – because the view of the Jew is that they are
unclean. But Jesus comes closer to the leper and he creates a miracle that Jesus
healed the leper as reviewed in the Gospel of Matthew 8:1-4 but I speculated
that the priest was also related to this story that unlikely might be allergic to
using gadgets or social media that part of the social communications where he
might be a related this as he also a Jew. But why is Fr. Soc Villegas on social
media on TikTok, Spotify even YouTube, and Facebook? Father Soc wants to welcome
Jesus in social media by spreading his gospel to those who are vulnerable and
are in the digital age and even in digital society. I am posing a challenging
question that I must also ask you – "Do you believe that Jesus should
not be welcomed in social media?"
The Diocese of Marbel has not been
improving social communications it might exist only during the pandemic and is rarely
active during the occasion desire to post anything this is possibly a wide
issue in the Diocese where the Bishop also was introverted and not
communicative with us in even in social media and expected to campaign a call
to empower the social communications in the Diocese of Marbel not by pandemic
alone.
Please ensure to be specific in
discussing the use of social media for fostering social communications and do
not make broad statements about the impact of digital technology on believers.
Emphasize the potential of social media and digital devices for spreading the
mission of Christ and the Church. Promote responsible usage of social media and
gadgets, and guide how to effectively engage and persuade both the faithful and
the youth in the digital realm to embrace these tools for the betterment of
their faith and community.
